Instructor's Bio: Shirley Wong

Shirley Wong began her dance life at the age of four. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she studied classical ballet and completed the Intermediate Level examination with the Royal Academy of Ballet. Soon after, she started to take on different dance forms such as Bollywood, Flamenco, Hawaiian dance, and Salsa to become a more well-rounded dancer. In 2004, she found her calling in dance through the culture and philosophy of the Middle East and began to concentrate her style of dance in Middle Eastern belly dancing.

Aside from training in Hong Kong, she has travelled overseas to attend belly dance workshops with numerous belly dance masters, legends, and superstars. They include Aida Nour, Asmahan, Farida Fahmy, Fatima Chekkor, Hassan Afifi, Mahmoud Reda, Tito Seif, Zaza Hassan, and Yousry Sharif. She also attended the belly dance course organized by the NILE GROUPĀ in Egypt in February 2010.

Her passion in belly dancing has led her to perform in various cultural shows, Middle Eastern restaurant gigs and private functions in Hong Kong, London, New York and Paris since 2005. Currently, she is the resident belly dancer of the unique and authentic Egyptian restaurant Habibi in Hong Kong.
